This tall glass is named after the 19th-century dining cars of steam locomotives, where it was used to serve drinks and measure boiler pressure with a rising ball. It can also serve as a quick, carbonated mixer and juice over ice, and is great for water and smoothie. It's taller than an old-fashioned glass but shorter and wider than a Collins glass.
